A sinus infection affects the sinuses, which are air-filled cavities located behind eyebrows and forehead, on either side of the nose’s bridge, behind the nose, and in the bony parts of the cheeks. Rhinitis on the other hand is caused by allergies or cold, and it affects only the nasal passages.
